Finn Photos

Finn is such an expressive and content little creature!  He does seem to have his activity clock a bit backwards, being most active and hungry between 10:00pm and 3:00am, but we're optimistic that we can turn this around a bit.  He just passed his first pediatric appt. with flying colors (although he did take a massive wizanski right before the doctor came in!), and is already starting to put on weight since Abbie's milk came in.  Abbie and I are tired, but try to grab sleep where we can.  But so far it's Finn's world around here, and we just live in it.  Enjoy the photos!

One More of Finn...

I think he looks a lot like my Grandpa Jack!

Baby Pics

As promised, here are a few photos of Finn, Abbie and me.  More soon.

Announcing... Finnegan Gareth Wells! The next great Baltimore Oriole arrived at 12:12pm today the 23rd! 6 lbs. 11 oz. 21 inches long. Big blue eyes and a shock of brown hair. Mom and baby are both healthy and currently sleeping. From first contractions to birth about 13 hours. We are huge epidural fans! Only two hours of pushing before Finn fairly jumped into this world, a long slender slice of lovable, miraculous wonder. Pappy is very proud! Pics a bit later. Love to everyone!

10/23 -  Well, it looks like things are on their way!  Abbie started getting contractions around 11:00pm last night, we left for the hospital around 4:30am, and are now well into labor.  See pic below.  We hope to have more news later tonight!  Everyone healthy.  Note the post-epidural smile on Abbie's face!  Much Love to everyone.

Ah, and this is the posture of waiting...  Looks like we've got another couple of days to go.  Abbie's latest OB appt. indicates that she's still only 1 cm dilated and that Finn is bound to be a stubborn kid.  In the event that Abbie does not go into labor on her own, she is slated to be induced sometime on the morning of Sunday the 26th.  And both of us at this point are glad.  Living with the unknowable has become less thrilling and more hectic and problematic, especially at work, where I cannot reliably tell my clients what the heck is going on, especially as I have some important renewals coming up.  And of course it impacts Abbie's notorious desire to always have something to do.  Not sure she would ever make much of a stay-at-home mom!  I think both of us will be happier when Finn is here!  As a final note, it looks like we might get the winter's first snowfall tonight.  I'll post a picture tomorrow if we do.

Captain's Log Stardate: October 19, 2008:

No progress on the baby front.  However, Earth is beautiful these days, with leaves turning and John and Abbie taking long walks in an effort to coerce Finn from his warm but probably-by-now-boring womb.  Posting a couple of pics from Denver, where the fall is really spectacular.  We missed this in SF and NY.

Belly Mug Shot - 40 wks.

Abbie's due date (the 17th) came and went, and still she's probably only dilated to 1cm, so it appears that Finn has decided to be fashionably late to the party!  We've finished all of our nesting, and are simply waiting for the big day.  Abbie's last day at work was Oct. 10th, and has been enjoying her days off since.  I go to work knowing that my cell phone could ring at any time and I'll have to drop everything and make my way home and then to the hospital.  It is also likely that Finn will not be an indecisive Libra but instead a stubborn Scorpio, based on all available data!  I'll be outflanked here in the homestead, but that's perfectly ok with me.  Otherwise there is little new to report.  We wait and we wait.  If Abbie hasn't gone into labor by Sunday the 26th, her OB will begin steps to induce.

The picture above is of course the baby room.  I can't take much credit for this; Abbie did most of the shopping and decorating.  You can see that my suggestion for a life-size Cal Ripken poster was rejected, but still, the room looks great!

PS - we want to thank everyone who has sent us and Finn their thoughts, wishes and trinkets!  We are so thankful for such wonderful family and friends!

Weeeeellll, Abbie is still 0% dilated, meaning Finn is most likely another week away yet (much to mom's dismay and continuing discomfort!).  So we wait and take long walks.  In the interest of fair turn about, here's a picture of me in my superhero, er, cycling bib.

Well, as an initial post, we thought we'd just let everyone know that Finn hasn't arrived yet, much to Abbie's dismay, but here's a picture that relates well the dimensions of Finn's current address...  As it stands, we've finished decorating the baby room, have acquired the small fortune of baby clothes, furnishings and equipment needed to sustain the overall happiness of our little one, and now just find ourselves in a waiting mode (one of us less happy about waiting than the other, or course...).  If you have any suggestions on how to hasten Abbie's contractions, she'd love to know!  Much love to all.
